“Unilever today announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase Dollar Shave Club®.
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Venice, California, Dollar Shave Club (DSC) has grown into a full male grooming business that has transformed the shaving category with its lifestyle brand empowering 3.2 million members.
In 2015, DSC had turnover of US$152 million and is on track to exceed US$200 million in turnover in 2016. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Spekuliert wird über einen Kaufpreis von 1 Mrd. Dollar (“Unilever Buys Dollar Shave Club for $1 Billion”):
“Dollar Shave Club had raised over $160 million in venture capital funding, most recently last November at a $539 million valuation.
Its seed round of funding was led by Forerunner Ventures, its Series A and Series B rounds were led by Venrock, while Technology Crossover Ventures led its two subsequent rounds.”
Vielleicht wird man in den kommenden Unilever-Präsentationen ein paar mehr Einblicke bekommen und sehen können, ob der Dollar Shave Club mehr ist als ein Marketinghype.
