Ein paar spannende Details zur Woot!-Übernahme. Wie die New York Times berichtet, war Amazon bereits seit 2006 an Woot! beteiligt:

"Woot, which started in 2004 and has
2.75 million registered users, was one of the first sites to offer a
single item that is available for 24 hours or until it is sold out. In addition to consumer electronics, Woot
now sells wine, toys and T-shirts.

Amazon, which became Woot’s only
outside investor in 2006, said it expected the acquisition to close in
the third quarter. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. "

Techcrunch spekuliert, dass der Kaufpreis bei 110 Mio. Dollar gelegen haben soll:

"We’re hearing from a solid source that the price Amazon paid was $110
million — all in cash."

Die ersten Gerüchte, dass Amazon und Woot unter einer Decke stecken, kamen Anfang 2008 auf. Damals war die Rede davon, dass sich Amazon mit 4 Mio. Dollar an Woot! beteiligt haben soll.
