Nur drei Jahre nach der Übernahme reicht Ahold FreshDirect in den USA schon wieder weiter an Getir:

“Founded in New York City in 2002, FreshDirect was acquired by Ahold Delhaize USA in January 2021.

Following a thorough review, Ahold Delhaize USA made the decision to sell the FreshDirect business to focus investments in its omnichannel businesses.”

Getir schreibt ergänzend dazu in einer gesonderten Pressemitteilung:

“The acquisition will lead to significant synergies between Getir and FreshDirect and emphasizes Getir’s strategic ambitions to grow in the United States.

FreshDirect will leverage Getir’s technology and operational footprint to offer faster services to its loyal customer base, which will also benefit from easy access to Getir’s quick convenience service.

FreshDirect will enable Getir to further increase the quality and breadth of its product range, especially regarding fresh products, making it even more attractive to its New York customers.”

Laut Geschäftsbericht (PDF) hatte Ahold 2021 für 80% an FreshDirect 330 Mio. Dollar (271 Mio. Euro) bezahlt. Der Umsatz hatte 2021 bei 702 Mio. Dollar (594 Mio. Euro) gelegen.

Getir hatte zuletzt Gorillas übernommen und kürzlich nochmal 500 Mio. Dollar einsammeln können.
